Understanding Dance Education

We believe in a positive atmosphere for our students and their parents. Although parents and teachers might view the child's learning process in different ways, the goal is the same. We want every child to have the best experience both physically and mentally. Respect among the parents, students and staff provides a caring and positive environment

Placing students is a very individualized and complex process. The student's progress is regularly evaluated in order to provide the best learning opportunities. A child may be placed in a class where he/she can feel confident and build self-esteem. A child may respond to the challenge of a more difficult class by working harder, while another may feel frustrated and become discouraged. The faculty bases their decisions on years of dance training and teaching experience as well as their knowledge of the child.

It is important to encourage students and help them focus on their own accomplishments. Students who have the same learning experience might still progress at different rates. Being inspired by others can be helpful. Making negative comparisons is detrimental. Support your child to be the best he/she can be without regard to others' achievements.

Our school takes the responsibility of educating and guiding children very seriously. The lessons learned at dancing school go beyond the technique and steps they master. We believe they gain an understanding of discipline, commitment, teamwork, and the value of working hard. We offer them a way to express themselves and a better understanding of themselves. Dance is an individual art form.

We strive for our students to feel satisfied with their own accomplishments, to be supportive of others and to feel good about being at our school.

Someday our students might forget most of the dance steps they learned at dancing school, but never the experience. We hope that experience will provide them with the skills and confidence for a successful life whether or not it includes dance.
