DSPA Gems Auditions

Desert Sun Performing Arts is holding auditions for their award winning Desert Sun Performing Arts Gems.  The DSPA Gems are an elite level of dancers who compete and perform at the highest level.  They are required to learn multiple styles of dance including, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, and Contemporary.   Our Gems are divided into four companies:  Diamonds, Amethysts, Rubies, and Sapphires.

Two new dance companies are being created for the upcoming year.  A new hip hop dance company called “Emeralds” for ages 10 and up.  This group will focus on learning and competing hip hop by professional dancer and choreographer Miguel Acero. 

Additionally, a ballet company called “Pearls” will be created.  This group will not be competitive team, rather it will focus intensely on ballet with the intention of one day performing full ballets such as “The Nutcracker”  This group will be led by studio owner Ceylan Gentilella.

A mandatory information meeting will be held Wednesday, June 2nd at 6:30pm. for  Parents ONLY.  The meeting purpose will be to review all audition requirements, DSPA Gem class requirements, and any questions parents may have.

The DSPA Gems, “Emeralds” and “Pearls”  auditions will be:

For ages 5-8 auditions June 9th from 6pm to 7:30pm
For ages 13 and up auditions June 9th from 7:30pm to 9:00pm
For ages 9-12 auditions June 10th from 7 to 8:30pm
 

DSPA Summer Performing Arts Camp

Desert Sun Performing Arts is presenting the best Summer Camp available to Maricopa residents.  Children will experience Acting, Dance, Music, Crafts and more.  Each week will present a different theme to ensure young audiences stay captivated.

Summer camp begins Tuesday, June 29, and runs thru Friday, July 30th.  Morning camps for ages 3 to 5 are 10am to 12:30pm.  Afternoon camp for ages 6-8 are 1:00pm to 3:30pm. Camps will be held at Desert Sun Performing Arts.  Register quickly because classes are filling!

DSPA Cheer Camp

Desert Sun Performing Arts is introducing our new DSPA Cheer Team!  We are proud to offer the following Cheerleading Summer Camps:

Wednesdays - 4-5PM - Ages 4-6 year old boys and girls
Thursdays - 4-5PM - Ages 7-9 year old boys and girls

Classes will run from June 30th to July 29th.  We will be going over basic cheer technique including cheers, arm/leg movements, stunting, incorporating cheer tumbling, and stretching.  Cost is only $50.00 for the Summer! Class sizes will be limited so register today

DSPA Summer Classes

Desert Sun Performing Arts has released its Summer Schedule and it is full of new classes!  Our youngest dance program, “Rising Stars” is for two year olds through five year olds.  Classes include beginning ballet technique and fun activities like freeze dances, and singing.  For older ages new Tap classes have been added as well as additional Jazz Funk classes.  Other styles include Pointe, Contemporary, Ballet Technique and Lyrical.  For our award winning DSPA Gems performers new classes include “Choreography” and “Leaps Jumps and Turns”.

Summer classes begin June 28th and run through July 31st.  Registration for Summer classes has begun and spots are filling quickly!
